24 September 2009 - Gordon Brown told the United Nations Security Council that he had asked a commission to consider whether the Navy might only order three rather than four new Trident submarines and to report by the end of the year. 14 March 2007 - voted for the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident November 2006 - Mr Brown did not respond to a letter about Trident from Church, Local Authority and Trade Union leaders. June 2006 - Said Britian should retain nuclear weapons in a speech at the Mansion House. This was intended to signal that he supported replacing Trident.
