Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace when a candidate in the 2010 general election saying that he would vote against the replacement of Trident -
" My position is very clear - there is no place for Trident or any other Nuclear Weapons on Scottish soil or any other part of the World.
I was pleased to support the position taken by the Church Leaders of Scotland and wrote to them pledging my support.
A total rethink is needed regarding the security of our Country and I will support the review by the MOD after the General Election if it includes all aspects of defence including Nuclear Weapons.
Our troops require a better deal and money should not be deflected from protecting them in favour of replacing Trident.
The money from this must be spent on essential services which includes supporting our brave men and women in front line engagement."
